Undergraduate Leadership Program

Raised by a single mother now working as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), I carry a deep understanding of the economic hardships and overlapping challenges faced by women in both rural and urban areas. As I embark on the Ching Tien Foundation’s leadership program, I bring not only academic knowledge and leadership experience but also a strong sense of purpose to serve. I am deeply grateful to the Foundation for granting me this opportunity, which I will approach with discipline, humility, and a commitment to giving back responsibly.

I have been sponsored by EGRC in my first year of undergraduate study. Now, the scholarship from the Ching Tien Foundation is like a beam of light shining into my life, opening up more opportunities and greater possibilities. This journey to Canada offers a precious chance to connect with the wider world, to know ourselves better, to understand others, and to see the world with new eyes.

Being selected as one of the scholarship recipients of the Ching Tien Foundation affirmed my hope and aspiration to make a significant impact as a woman. Through the Undergraduate Leadership Program, I hope to further my leadership skills, strengthen my confidence, and gain a broader global perspective. I see my participation as a rare opportunity to learn from Ms. Ching Tien, and my fellow scholars whose diverse stories and experiences will undoubtedly shape my own.

Joining this leadership program at the Ching Tien Foundation would give me the chance to learn in a diverse and dynamic environment, gain international exposure, and grow into a more independent and confident individual. I see this opportunity as more than just studying abroad - it is a chance to push myself beyond my comfort zone, connect with people from different cultures, and prepare for a future where I can create meaningful change. This experience would motivate me to give back to my community and empower other women to pursue their dreams.

Envisioning spending a month in Canada feels both exciting and humbling. It is a chance to grow beyond what is familiar while carrying my roots with me. Growing up in a Filipino Household surrounded by my extended family, this transition inspires hope, independence, and the courage to pursue opportunities that once felt so far away. The Ching Tien Foundation's scholarship makes it possible for me to learn, build, and contribute meaningfully to the people who need us and to the society we aspire to create.

Becoming a member of the Ching Tien Foundation for Women feels like opening a vibrant new chapter filled with endless possibilities and growth. This incredible opportunity to participate in the program is a dream come true. The scholarship is far more than financial support; it is a profound vote of confidence in my potential. Knowing that an organization believes in my journey empowers me to strive for excellence every single day. I am deeply honored and ready to embrace this adventure with an open heart and a determined spirit.

I am excited to learn about global leadership as it represents a pathway to making a positive impact on the world. The Ching Tien Foundation has shown me that nothing is impossible when you have determination and the right support. This belief fuels my passion for growth and encourages me to embrace challenges. Together, we can make a difference and empower future generations.

This is an empowerment for me to dream more and be of service for a greater range of people with my field and skills. Spending a month in Canada feels both exciting and humbling, as it represents a chance to grow in a new environment and at the same time carry my values, dreams, and experiences with me. I am looking forward to meeting new people, being exposed to new things, and expanding my horizons that will all enlarge my heart and improve my service for others.

The Ching Tien Foundation’s scholarship means opportunity, growth, and the encouragement to become a confident, responsible, and impactful woman. Most importantly, this opportunity would inspire me to give back to my community and support other women in the future.

The Ching Tien Foundation has become like a second home to me. Here, I've met incredible women who inspire me every day. The Foundation gives us more than a scholarship. It gives us real-life lessons in leadership, a safe place to practice new skills, and most importantly, a chance to make lifelong friends who truly understand our struggles. What I love most is how everyone supports each other. We're not competing, we're learning together and cheering each other on. This experience has changed how I see my future. Now I know that with hard work and good people around me, anything is possible. The Foundation didn't just give me an opportunity—it gave me confidence and a family. That's something I'll carry with me forever.

Ching Tien Foundation for Women is warm home. Ching like second mother, while Ashleigh and the other sisters have guided me with their wisdom and warmth every step I take.
I am an EGRC girl as well. At EGRC I learned to be brave and try new things, and educated women will transform the next generations. At the Foundation I was inspired and transformed again by learning how to become a strong leader, and experienced Canada. Now I’m certain than ever that I can not only change my own life but also help more women like me to pursue their dreams.

To me, the Ching Tien Foundation is a beam of light rising from the hearts of those who believe in the quiet strength in every human story. It is a promise — that even in the shadows, someone is working to bring light, especially to those who’ve been forgotten or unheard. It stands as a symbol of compassion in action, of dreams rooted in justice, and of people who dare to make a difference simply because they care. And that, to me, is nothing short of extraordinary.

The Ching Tien Foundation does magic. It gives everyone wings to fly, and the vision to look beyond themselves. With the support of the Foundation, I am brave enough to take small steps rather than waiting until I can devour the biggest challenges at once.

The Ching Tien Foundation represents a transformative chapter in my personal development. This Program is where I discovered strength within myself while being uplifted by the individuals around me. Ching, whom I felt like both an Ayi and a mentor, was instrumental in helping me navigate the initial challenges to adapting to a new environment. Her wisdom, compassion, and encouragement, alongside the support from Royal Roads University, helped me find the courage to face challenges head-on. I am profoundly grateful for the investment, care, and inspiration the foundation has offered, and I am committed to carrying forward its legacy by contributing to a more inclusive and supportive world.

My experience with the Ching Tien Foundation has been incredible! In just a few months, it helped develop my mindset, confidence, and leadership skills through mentorship, soft skills training, volunteerism, and cross-cultural communications. The Foundation felt like a home where I wasn't judged, everyone was inspirational, and I learned something from each person. With Ching's motherly care and approach to each and every one of us, I never felt homesick while in Canada. The Foundation means home to me.

The experience at the Foundation has become a turning point of my life. I have gained a deep sense of belonging to it. The Foundation is not just an organization; it is a supportive family. During my study in Canada, I focused on leadership growth with the support of the Foundation and the course at the Royal Roads University. This experience transformed me. When I first met the Foundations Master’s scholars, I felt the instant connections between us because the trust, the vision and purpose we shared.

I see our Foundation as deep roots, and all the women supported as branches that will bear fruit. I am proud to be a part of the Ching Tien Foundation, and in addition to my giving back project, I would like to contribute to the Foundation in any way possible.

I am an EGRC girl and the member of the Foundation. I imagine many years later I will look back on this morning in Vancouver, when Auntie Tien, just like a mother, brought her children to the beach for a picnic. We sat around a table comfortably and took turns sharing our stories. Auntie Tien is always touched by our stories. That morning, we were surrounded by love, tears and laughter.

The month in Canada was a life changing experience. This experience made me to realize that life is not a railway track that can only follow in a fixed direction, in fact, life has unlimited possibilities. Now I am determined to follow my heart and create my own future. I can’t express enough of my gratitude to the Ching Tien Foundation for providing this precious opportunity.

During my time in Canada, I experienced many “firsts”. It was my first plane ride, my first time to meeting Ching Tien in person, my first time exposed to a different culture by staying with a Canadian family, the first time I challenged myself my trying outdoor activities, and my first time experiencing the Canadian way of learning. I found myself becoming more outgoing, expressive, and over all more confident. It is an experience I will never forget.

I have been a member of EGRC and the Foundation for eight years, and this place has truly become my second home. Here, I find supportive mentors who stand by me, sisters with whom I share deep emotional bonds, and a profound love for serving society. To me, the Foundation is both an opportunity and a platform. It has given me the chance to see the world, broadened my horizons, and revealed things which I never imagined possible.

My biggest gain from The Foundation’s program is a deeper understanding and acceptance of myself.
Over the past decade I often felt worthless and unloved, which led me to constantly doubt myself. However, my experience in Canada helped me discover different values and possibilities. My homestay family David and Leah encouraged me and made me feel valued. My teacher Wendy and my classmates always noticed me and praised me. The genuine love, care and positive feedback made me feel worthy.

Through the learning at the Ching Tien Foundation and Royal Roads University in Canada, I gained a deeper understanding about leadership and was even more inspired to learn about self-leadership. I was impressed with Canadian values of diversity and inclusivity. Now, they have become my own values. I am motivated to visit other parts of the world in the future.

The Ching Tien Foundation has become a cornerstone in my life. Primarily, it connects me with other remarkable young women who share similar life stories and backgrounds. For us, the Foundation is far more than an organization; it’s a community, a safe haven where we can place complete trust in every single member. This sense of unconditional trust is rare and precious. Ching, specifically, has been an unwavering pillar of support.
