Message from the Founder –
The seasonal change brings more news to share. Having recently completed the selection process, we welcome five new masters’ program scholarship recipients. The five successful scholars are from China, Vietnam and Nepal. Since September they have embarked on their exciting global study journeys in Canada, the US, Italy and Belgium.
The scholarship recipients participate in our bi-weekly online learning and engage in their new communities, as an integral part of the Foundation’s mission. The program is designed to help these aspiring leaders gain a global perspective, develop critical thinking to engage in an increasingly complex world, and connect with their new communities through volunteer service.
The scholarships we offer are an investment, the return on which is for these women to become leaders who give back and inspire others.
Since 2025 the Foundation has recruited young women from seven different countries in Asia, each with diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Through online and in-person interactions each cohort has gained deeper understanding of each other, built friendships and bonded in a common commitment to becoming leaders and giving back.
We are pleased to introduce our five new scholars.
"Investing in women is investing in our collective future."
Ching Tien
Thu Ngan Pham, Vietnam
KU Leuven University, Belgium
Advanced LL.M. in European and International Business Law
“As a Ching Tien Master Scholar 2026, I am excited to join a community of aspiring women. Personally, my work revolves around a question: as laws governing new business models and technology evolve, who gets to formulate the rules, and who risks being left behind?
At KU Leuven, I am studying how the legal frameworks for international business, global supply chains, and emerging technologies have developed, and how those models can be meaningfully adapted for Viet Nam and Southeast Asia. My long-term goal is to ensure that women and vulnerable groups are properly represented and accounted for in these law-making procedures. Being a Ching Tien Scholar is both my opportunity and commitment: to work hard, to advocate responsibly, and to pay it forward.”
Kangying Cen, China
University of Toronto, Canada
Master of Psychospiritual Studies
“Being a recipient of the Ching Tien Foundation’s scholarship means a lot to me. It is an opportunity to grow alongside a community of inspiring women who challenge and support one another in becoming compassionate leaders. In the years ahead, I envision bringing together the different threads of me, academic and professional experiences — psychological insight, creative practice, spiritual inquiry, and entrepreneurship — to develop community wellness initiatives that are both deeply human and thoughtfully designed. I see this scholarship not only impacts my education. I hope to grow as an emerging psychotherapist, as someone who will bring people, resources, and ideas together around shared social goals”.
Jophen Lama, Nepal
Tufts University, USA
Master of Science in Cybersecurity and Public Policy
“Receiving the Ching Tien Foundation’s scholarship is like having a support system throughout my graduate school journey. While the award contributes to lifting a certain financial burden, it is most assuring to be a part of the community that understands the importance of empowering women through education and has curated tools for our development. The graduate program is a challenging pursuit for me, because I am entering a new field – cybersecurity – with a background in public policy.
I am looking forward to the mentorship provided by the Foundation, as I believe it will help me navigate my academic path and accelerate my career growth.”
Le Lan Phuong, Vietnam
University of Pisa, Italy
Master of Science in Digital Intelligence and Change Management
“Receiving the Ching Tien Foundation’s Scholarship means more than financial support. In fact, the journey itself has already changed how I see my own potential and the impact I can create. What inspires me most about the Foundation is the idea that supporting a woman is not only about helping her overcome challenges today, but also about investing in her potential to empower many others. I’m deeply grateful to the Foundation, not only for believing in my potential, but also for inspiring me to take responsibility to lead and help others”.
Yiqin Zhong, China
Queen’s University, Canada
Master of Laws (LL.M.)
“Receiving the Ching Tien Foundation’s scholarship means joining a community of women who lift one another up, far beyond financial support. As a law graduate from China beginning my LL.M. at Queen’s, I am learning to adapt to a new country and a new legal system, and I know how much it helps to have mentors and peers who understand that journey. I am especially excited about the mentorship, the learning sessions, and the giving back project, which will let me turn what I learn into something that benefits others. I hope to grow into a leader who lifts others as I rise.”
