Masters Scholarship Program

The Ching Tien Foundation Scholarship offers me a space for learning, growth, and solidarity. It is not only an opportunity to pursue my education, but a chance to learn from other inspiring young women who strive to create positive change in their communities. This is a safe and empowering space where women uplift one another, exchange ideas, and build the confidence and skills needed to lead with empathy and purpose. I aim to bring the knowledge and experience I gain back to marginalized communities like my own, where I can play a role in generating lasting social impacts.

This scholarship means so much to me on many levels. It alleviates my dad’s financial burden of international tuition fees and empowers me to take ownership of my education by contributing to my own expenses. More importantly, it opens the door for me to becoming a strong changemaker and leader through valuable mentorship and bi-weekly learning sessions. I am particularly excited about the “giving back project,” which will allow me to design and implement a meaningful, year-long initiative addressing a social issue close to my heart.

Since this is my first time living away from home, I’m learning to adapt to new cultural environments and ways of thinking. Although there might be challenges, I see this experience as a chance to build resilience and broaden my horizons. Receiving the Ching Tien Foundation scholarship means more than just financial support. It connects me to a community where I can share experiences, learn from others, and continue growing. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity and the values the scholarship represents.

I am excited to receive the Ching Tien Foundation/Mackenzie Investments scholarship and have started my new life at UBC in Vancouver. The Foundation offers a community and learning platform where I can form friendship with like-minded women to develop my knowledges and skills that guide me to grow as a leader and researcher navigating global academic spaces. I want to become a capable leader to lift others as I grow.

Since I came to Dublin, I have been amazed by my new environment. I love the beautiful nature here and the slower pace of life. In China, everyday life seemed to always be in a rush. In Ireland, I am learning how to slow down and take some time to enjoy nature. I have met other students who are from different countries in Europe, Asia and Africa… The learning culture here is so different, almost opposite from the way I was used to. I am gradually making progress on developing independent thinking and forming my own views and opinions.

The Ching Tien Foundation is far more than a scholarship program — it is a community that believes in me, supports me, and inspires me to become the best version of myself. Through the opportunities, guidance, and care I’ve received, I have learned to see myself not just as a beneficiary, but also as someone who has the responsibility and ability to give back. Now I am a volunteer at the Foundation supporting younger scholars. The Foundation has become a constant reminder that no matter where I am, I can carry its spirit forward — empowering more women, sharing my light, and contributing to a world where every girl has the chance to fulfill their potential.

The Ching Tien Foundation is a home to me. Ching is like the mother of the big family, and Ashleigh is our big sister. All the other girls are my sisters. As an only child, I never experienced this kind of support before. I feel like I have a big and safe harbor which carries me along on my way. I have become a stronger leader through this journey, and I am doing my part to give the back to the Foundation and my new Canadian community.

My experience at the Foundation has enriched and expanded my views of the world, and my ambitions for the future. I am constantly inspired by Ching and my fellow scholars and cherish this community as a family away from home. With the Foundation’s support I have overcome fear and self-doubt to become a confident woman who can lead and inspire others. This experience has inspired me to continue practice my leadership skills and try to give back in my daily life.

Being a Ching Tien Foundation scholar has been a profoundly transformative journey for me. I have immersed myself in a new culture, expanded my knowledge, experienced the Western education system, and learned to think independently and critically. On top of the scholarship funding received, the incredible emotional support, guidance, and encouragement from Ching Tien and the Foundation have illuminated my future.
